A Memorable Year on Brettenwood Coastal Estate

01 November 2014 | Property Services

Brettenwood Coastal Estate was established in 2004, during the boom times of the property market in South Africa. The Estate endured the slump in the property market from 2009 onwards. The past few years have seen the introduction of the dynamic and energetic Home & Country Property sales team and, with a slight upswing in the property market, the result has been an increase in activity on the Estate, with record sales being recorded.

As a non-resident of Brettenwood Coastal Estate, but a regular visitor having been involved in much of the property work on the Estate and being a representative of the Hulett Development Company on the board of directors of the Home Owners’ Association, I regularly find myself wondering if the residents of Brettenwood Coastal Estate appreciate how fortunate they are to live on such a fantastic Estate.

This year saw my wife’s first visit to the Estate when she accompanied me to the launch of Forest Village Phase 3. She immediately fell in love with the Estate and has passed many comments since then that it is her Estate of choice once our kids have finished their schooling and we are able to uproot ourselves. Until then I am making a conscious effort to keep her out of the grasp of the Home & Country Property team.

There were many exciting developments during 2014, the 10th year of the Estate. After frustrating delays with Municipal town planning approval, building plan approval and surveyor general approval, the transfers of the freehold sites around Jacana Place were registered, the sectional title register for Forest Village Phase 2 was opened and the first two batches of transfers registered, with the third batch anticipated to be registered very soon.

Forest Village Phase 3 was also launched in September, with the first release of units being sold out in a short space of time. There were a healthy number of sales in the new phase of Brettenwood Lakes. The exciting "Brettenwood on the Beach" was announced, adding to the impressive facilities already on offer to residents of the Estate.

2015 should see the construction and transfer of the remaining units in Forest Village Phase 2 being completed, the construction of the first units in Forest Village Phase 3 commencing and the construction and transfer of the first units in the next phase on Brettenwood Lakes being completed.

The Estate will continue to go from strength to strength as the remaining developer’s freehold sites are sold, the construction of homes on the Estate continues unabated and various sectional title developments are now completed. With the festive season fast approaching, the residents on the Estate should reflect on the privilege of living on Brettenwood Coastal Estate with its unspoilt ecoenvironment and all the incredible facilities and sense of community that goes with it.

With 2014 drawing to a close, we wish all the residents on the Estate a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2015. We all at Cox Yeats would also like to congratulate the Estate on the celebration of their 10th birthday and look forward to being of continued service to the Developer and residents on the Estate.
